I know that if you are like most of us today then you feel that America is deteriorating in so many different ways. In America today, we are seeing the following: a shrinking middle class; jobs going overseas; large corporations paying workers poverty wages while company CEO's make billions; cultural ills such as the proliferation of hard-core/soft-core pornography; extreme violence in television, movies and videogames; a moral decline and erosion of biblical values; erosion of religious rights and freedoms; an increase of gangs and gang related activity, horrific crimes against children, and the list goes on. If you are like me then you see all of this as well.
Nine years ago, I began to write a book about these types of things after having a dream early one morning and then waking up with it fresh on my heart. At that moment, I had a sense of a more innocent era for us to live and see our kids grow up in. I know this may sound unusual but it was if I could smell innocence in the air- everything was clean and fresh and good for a change.
Ten Reasons why I believe that you need to read this book.
1. Your child's future is important.
2. We have a corrosive media culture.
3. The love of money (greed) is severely damaging our society.
4. The widespread acceptance of the theory of evolution is defining us as a secular culture.
5. Religious Freedom has been and is being threatened.
6. The Ten Commandments have been thrown out of schools and public buildings- and are being spurned by our culture.
7. Teenagers are committing hainous crimes without remorse for their actions.
8. Abortion has claimed tens of millions of lives in the United States.
9. We have a politically polarized and frozen congress that gets little if anything accomplished.
10. We have an increasingly unchurched society where many people today see attending church services on a regular basis as being inconvenient and unimportant.

One
morning not too long ago, I woke up with a dream on my heart. During
this dream I could literally smell innocence in the air. I saw
pictures on the canvas of my imagination that seemed very vivid and
real. Because of the pleasant sights and sounds that I was
experiencing, I longed to go back to sleep to relive the experience.
It is hard to express with words, but it seemed as if I had been
swept up in the flavor of a different era.
As I lie half
asleep on my bed, and in those few moments before confronting the
reality of the day ahead which most all of us are familiar, memories
from my childhood flooded my mind. The memories were those of a
seemingly simpler time. A time where for the most part a kid could
still be a kid.
Even though the late 1970's and early 80's had
a lot of brewing cultural problems, such as a growing drug culture
and a newly emerging skyrocketing divorce rate, the overall
environment was still not bad for a kid to grow up in. Television
programming was for the most part clean. The current cultural lust
for sex did not yet exist in the cultural mainstream. Currently
today, almost everything is sexualized.
However, innocence was
losing its grip. The cultural environment was quickly changing and
becoming more complicated every day. Innocence was fading fast.
Quickly disappearing were times when a kid had the best chance of
being a kid.
In my dream, I could literally smell the flavor
of that innocence all around me. A time where Andy Griffith was king
of the re-run and G movies were still popular (not just the animated
movies which are about the only G rated movies we have today). One
must realize that even though the times were not perfect the culture
was a much more favorable place to grow up than the one we have
today.
The flavor of the early morning dream seemed to have
an almost magical quality. It was pure and unadulterated. These are
two qualities that in current reality are almost
absent as wickedness and evil has grown to a level of popularity
within the culture.
